Boy, I still could remember this collage. It was the second day of orientation if I'm not mistaken when we're each asked to create one base on what we inspired. Well, to avoid really draggy boring dull post, I decided to post some of my artwork that I've done in the four months duration of sem one. It's not really masterpiece I'm happy with but I'm contented and satisfied with what I've managed to learn so far.
So here we go.
This was Pr. of Design on the topic of Points. So we were assigned to search for a celebrity face and dot it out. I first chose Jessica Simpson but then I wasn't really satisfied hence, I tried doing Wentworth Miller which equally failed. I passed up Jessica's one at the end. Got low because shading wasn't enough.
This one is quite recent. It was our last Drawing class- drawing portrait of another person with charcoal pencil. I drew May and May drew me. And yes, I know I suck in human figures.
Typography last project and the most stressing one. We were put into groups of two and my partner was Yvonne. We were all given four different letter words and as you can see ours is MORE. Firstly, we're suppose to create 5 cups (above) and from there transfering and expanding the ideas into a 90cm waterproof model. We used Styrofoam but mainly focusing on wires.
Drawing class again. Another of our main final projects drawing base on perspective. I choose the hallway between Psychology and the Art & Design department. There, you can see a one point perspective with the Psych's lab door as the vanishing point.
Canvas painting which includes the eight interrelationship of points- detachment, touching, overlapping, coinciding, subtraction, penetration, intersection, union.
Learning to shade and render with lines and not with hand rubbing whatsoever. I suck but it's the best I can do.
Computer graphic class. The most free and easy class ever. What we basically learn at this beginning stage is on how to handle Illustrater for graphic and fine art students whereelse Photoshop for Interior students. First, we had to create a monster on a template that's already given. And for final, we had to design a world of monsters.
Contrast of anomaly- something different, peculiar, out of the ordinary.
If you see clearly, my anomaly would be the cluster of cars and one missing spot; under construction. Not really visible though. I did mine as 2D approaching 3D. The 8'' x 8'' box was made out of ordinary foam board painted with black and decorated with white floral design. Untidy have to say.
Gift wrapper under the topic of Repetition and Rhythm. Used simple primary colours but played around with tint, tone and shade. Very tedious work and being neat was darn difficult for me.
Last but not least, the colour wheel! Something that's compulsory for all art students to do so that we know the basic of colours combination. Analogous, complimentary, split complimentary, monochromatic colours are some of it you'll get to understand.
So that's it. Well, a whole lot more but for now that's it. I personally can't wait for sem two. Being at home is plain boring and well, this week ahead is gonna be horrifying. Believe me. And heck, I don't get it why my stomach's still feels uncomfortable and my head gets dizzy every now and then. But I'm not gonna complain furthur cause I'm so contented with what I have. I really do.
